Pictured: Foray™ Chair in Black Leather on Polished Aluminum Frame with T arms.
A collaborative effort between Herman Miller and Geiger, the Foray Chair was designed with the executive in mind. It’s the ergonomic chair with executive appointments, including Herman Miller leather. Its seat back is inspired by a cupped hand and its platform is based on Herman Miller’s Harmonic ™ Tilt Technology. This system creates pivot points at the hip, knee and ankle to allow easy and natural movement.

Foray Chair Detailed Description
In a category where ergonomics largely has been ignored, Foray breaks new ground with a platform based on Herman Miller HarmonicTM tilt technology.
This design delivers an unusually smooth ride, with consistent tension through the full range of recline, which gives total ease of control to large and small sitters. The adjustable mechanism mirrors the body's natural movement, with pivot points at the hip joint, knee and ankle. Pivoting at these three places keeps the sitter in contact with the chair through all points of recline, while allowing the sitter to keep feet on the floor and extend the angle between torso and thigh for improved circulation.
The patented "Super Seat" suspension system provides long-term comfort, enhancing productivity by eliminating fatigue.

Foray Chair Design Story

Designer Eric Chan
In 1989, Eric Chan formed ECCO Design, a creative consultancy based in New York City. Born in China and raised in Hong Kong, he received his Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art.
A critical element of his approach to industrial design has been the Eastern philosophy of creating harmony of man, nature, and society. Technology has also become part of the equation. "The designer's task is to mediate balance between people and objects, poetry and logic, technology and nature," says Chan, "My interest is to translate complicated technology into simple, friendly products for people." Marketing plays an important role in his process. "We're not in business to place products in museums," he says. "If beautiful forms are meaningful in the marketplace, that's when we've done our jobs."
ECCO's clients include companies from every major consumer segment, including Best Buy, Herman Miller, Lenovo, LG Electronics, Toyota/Lexus and Virgin. Foray is Chan's first collaboration with Geiger.
